Easter Celebration

We were looking for an Easter activity for the Saturday before Easter and our friends James and Krissi happen to have an awesome neighborhood that puts on a fun event for the neighborhood families and their friends.  The kids had a great time and we just beat the weather so it was a good morning.
Yep, really, two bouncy houses for the kids to enjoy!

Lucy has mastered climbing these curvy ladder things at playgrounds and now finds them whenever we go to one.
The egg hunt begins - they are off!

And Lucy spotted a man mowing the lawn a couple yards away and freaked out!  The rest of the time she was scared of the lawn mower saying it was coming to get her and she had a hard time enjoying the festivities.
Jaydon and Lucy with their goodies
The Easter Bunny even came for a visit.  It was pretty awesome, Jaydon thought it was really cool and gave him a high five, Lucy was still freaked out and didn't want anything to do with him.
We had a fun morning and were so thankful to our friends for inviting us to their neighborhood celebration!

Higgins Snuggle Time

Higgins has become a bit of a snuggler with the kiddos.  It is shocking how he allows Lucy to carry him around in all sorts of positions but it is also super cute that he is sometimes allowing snuggling.
Storytime with Lucy and Higgins

Higgins with all animals on Jaydon's bed

We had to give Higgins a bath one night and he was chilly, that night he slept with Jaydon for the rest of the night.  Jaydon was so excited!

Another kids bike adventure

We decided to try the bike ride from Grandma's to the nearby elementary school again and this time Lucy got to ride her scooter (part way) and we all rode bikes because Jaydon did not need help getting started on his bike anymore.
Starting out
Arriving at the playground.  Lucy rode part way and was in the Wee-Hoo part way but she really wanted to ride more so we convinced her she could ride into the playground from the road, that appeased her.
This time we had a lunch stop at a nearby restaurant.  Lucy loved her milkshake (so did Jaydon).  The ride home was long because while Jaydon was fast and ready to go Lucy refused to ride in the Wee-Hoo and would only walk or ride her scooter, it takes awhile for her to go a mile and a half!  We had a great bike adventure and enjoyed our sunny day.

YMCA Bike Ride

Grandma and Gram signed us up for a family YMCA bike ride.  It was a benefit for the community of OSO that was devastated by the mudslide.  Jaydon rode his two wheeler with Gram while Lucy rode her little trike scooter the first mile with Grandma.
Lucy loved her adventure (or "abenture" as she calls it)
When she goes up hill on her little scooter it gets pretty tough so she has taken to just picking up her bike and walking it up the hill, it is so funny to see her carry her bike like this.
She made it!  She got a ribbon and high fives and her own cheering section at the end of the mile.  We then plunked her in the chariot and rode on to find Jaydon and Gram
Jaydon rode like a champ
He got about 5 miles of riding in and did a really great job.  He did get tired at the end and his legs were cold so he was happy when we reached the next water station and got to turn around.
Riding back to the start, both kids were in the chariot and both kids quickly fell asleep.

Tired kiddos but they were very happy to have done the ride and especially enjoyed the special lunch after, it was a great day.

Jaydon's Bike-a-thon

Jaydon's preschool had a bike-a-thon each year that raises money for Seattle Children's Hospital, it was good timing as Jaydon had just been there and loved his visit and enjoyed the idea of earning money for the cause.
He and his classmates getting ready to ride

They did a loop around the parking lot and school building.  Jaydon did about 15 laps and had a great time.  He started on his two wheeler but with all the kid traffic we switched to his scoot bike because he had more control.
Riding around!
Grandma, Gram, Lucy, Sarah and Dad all came to watch too!  We had a great time cheering him on and giving high fives to him every lap he took.

Happy 2nd Birthday Lucy!

We had a wonderful day getting to celebrate our little girl's 2nd birthday!
Opening her present from mom, dad and Jaydon
Trying to read the box
She loves it!  Her own little scoot bike/trike
Adding to the look is her very cool zoo hat from auntie Karen and uncle Doug
The kids doing some Easter puzzles that morning.
I am the mean mom who actually signs my kid up for their annual check-up on their birthday which did result in a shot.  Very quick update - Lucy is doing great!  She is right around 60-65th% for all her growth stats, weighing in around 27lbs 6oz and about 34 in tall.  All of her developmental checks were great and the Dr. was extremely impressed with her vocabulary and speech skills.  She is such a talker - he said 2 year check up is typical for about 50 to 100 words and 2-4 word sentences, Lucy has a vocab of more than a few hundred and is talking in 7-10 word sentences all the time.  She also was quite the trooper not crying a single tear with her shot.  She got the poke, said that hurts and was not too happy about it but then did well, having her lovies helped.
Opening another gift that arrived in the mail
Thanks Auntie Kelsey, Uncle Tyler, Piper and Ferris, she loves her pens and paper.
Then that evening we had our neighborhood over to sing happy birthday and enjoy some dessert.
They even got Jaydon a gift.
Lucy got a new stroller of her own, she immediately got her baby and drove it around for quite some time.
Hangin' with the neighbors

Happy 2nd Birthday sweet girl!
Lovin' the cupcake!  She is a dessert hound :-)
