Happy Halloween!

We had a fabulous yet busy Halloween!  We tried to get a number of activities crammed into a two hour window and mostly accomplished it.

We had a wonderful Halloween full of friends and family and adventure!

Baby Kate

I'm trying my best to make sure I take photos of Kate, I remember complaining to my mom at one point about a lack of pics of me as the second so hopefully if I paparazzi her enough I won't have that to worry about as she gets older ;-)  Here are some of my favorite pics from weeks 2-3.  Kate is really doing very well.  In one week she gained 10 ounces so she was back to 9lb 6oz at her 10 day check up and is quite healthy.  We caught the dairy intolerance really early so her diaper rash cleared up quickly and she is eating and sleeping and growing well.  She still would much rather nap and sleep with/on me than on her own and for the most part we all do ok with that.

Jaydon Halloween Art

Here is some of Jaydon's Halloween art from school.  They did the 5 little pumpkins poem and made lots of fun holiday things.  We will have even more in a few weeks because they saved a bunch of stuff for open house!

Tim and Alex meet Kate

Tim and Alex came over to pick up Sarah one evening which was great because they got to meet Kate and play with Jaydon and Lucy for awhile.  Tim was being quite the photo bomber so I had to include his sequence of brilliance.

It was great to see them (crazy that they live right down the road but are so busy we hardly get to see them) and fun to introduce our youngest to them.  If you want a blast from the past look at September of 2009 photos for the visit with the Angelos family and see them 5 years younger holding Jaydon!

Library Story Time

Jeremy is a pretty wonderful husband and we have a system that works really well for us with a new baby.  He cares for our older kiddos while I just focus on the baby for awhile and it makes it relatively easy (as easy as having a newborn can be).  I love library story times and am so thankful that this is a service that libraries offer!

I will say, sometimes Dads don't have the same standard of dress as Moms might for going out in the late October weather but I am sure Lucy was thrilled to wear this.

Jaydon and Higgins

Jaydon has really been enjoying some snuggle time with Higgins and surprisingly Higgins has been enjoying it as well :-)  Maybe the fact that Jeremy and I are too busy to just sit with a cat on us is making Jaydon the better option!

Baby Harlan visits

Wendy's sister-in-law had their first baby at the end of Sept and unfortunately developed a nasty abscess and had to be in the hospital for a few days.  Wendy came down and stayed with us one night so she could be closer to go and get Harlan and care for him during the day so Bernie could be at the hospital with Teresa.  We had a good time hanging with the little babes and enjoying some adult conversation at the same time.

Kate and Harlan didn't quite converse but they hung out together for a little while!

Leighton's Halloween Party

With the Leighton's annual Halloween party being six days after Kate was born I decided to stay home with her and send Jeremy, Jaydon and Lucy off to have a fabulous time.

Another year, another fabulous tradition.  I love that we are getting to have the next generation of kiddos enjoying the pumpkin parties.

Siblings and tummy time

I am going to try to recreate the tummy time photo I have from both Lucy and Jaydon but Kate was a bit tired this morning and we didn't have a ton of time (nor do I actually have the correct pair of pajamas on her) so that will have to wait a day or two.  I did get some pics of Kate on her tummy and while she didn't lift her head all that high she was able to lift it enough to turn from one side to the other and I have seen her lift it high just like her brother and sister did at this age so we have another strong little girl on our hands.

My kids have all seemed to enjoy tummy time and don't throw much of a fit doing it.

I then had Jaydon and Lucy join the pics.  With Jaydon fighting something and Lucy at times seeming like she might be too they have had to stay away from Kaitlyn quite a bit these first few days and haven't had any real snuggle time.  They both appear to be quite a bit better so I figured we would go for it and let them interact with her a bit more.

Kate's first bottle

Kaitlyn is definitely still a newborn and wants to sleep!  Which is great but it means that eating is not a priority so she wakes up and wants to but she never eats for long.  Thus I got to the point where I really needed to pump for just a couple minutes to get a little comfort.  We then were able to give her a bottle which I know Dad loves getting a chance to do.

She did pretty well, taking about an ounce and a half or a little bit more.

She also wanted to fall promptly asleep after she was done.
