Lucy had a follow up appointment with the allergist on her 3 month birthday so we were able to get a current weight check. I don't think I updated on here, but the week before (on the 20th) I had taken her in again to the dr. because she was spitting up so much and had foamy diarrhea that I was a bit worried. It turns out at that appointment she had lost weight and was 12lbs 11oz (not much weight but still it had been over a week since her previous weight check and to have lost a half ounce versus gaining at all wasn't good). From that appointment we were told to try pumping and feeding her a bottle so that we could better monitor how many ounces of milk she was getting and to stay the course with the diet restrictions of dairy, soy and eggs. I tried pumping as much as I could with two kids and we ended up being able to do two-three bottles a day and the rest from me. The great news is that when we went in to the allregist on the 26th she had gained 5 oz. and weighed 13lbs even on her 3 month birthday. The bad news was that she was still spitting up (though not quite as much) and her stools were not normal yet. So the next recommendations were to switch to a very sensitive formula for a month and/or see a GI specialist down at Children's in Seattle. We got the referral for the specialist and were going to wait about a week to start the formula to see if she continued to gain weight or not, especially since we were leaving for Kodiak the very next day the idea of switching to formula right then seemed a bit tough.
Great news though - when we got to Kodiak, since my diet was so limited on our travel day and the first few days in Kodiak, Lucy got better! She had normal stools and less spit up and started gaining weight like a champ (a tiny bit more than a pound in 10 days). What we discovered was that a few of the things I was eating were still containing food products that she is intolerant to. So I have to continue to be very careful and watch everything I eat but I am able to still breastfeed and she is doing well health wise!
Now for the fun stuff about Lucy at 3 months! She is a snuggler and a smiler and loves interacting and talking and laughing with people. She will have conversations with me (and others) and they are just so darn cute! She sleeps on her left side and has now started rolling over (3 months 10 days) to her tummy from her back regularly, sometimes she feels like she gets stuck on her tummy and then she isn't so happy but she can sometimes get back onto her side. She likes playing with her toy moose, Mortimer, and she is sleeping pretty well at night (naps can be hit or miss). The above picture is her resting with dad as I was frantically trying to pack and get us ready to be gone for 11 days.
Sorry about the creepy red eye on these photos, I still don't have our new camera back from the shop. Here she is enjoying the wam weather and playing with her moose.
Here she is with Jaydon at 3.5 months (above) and at 3 days (below). My how time has flown by and how much she has grown, even if it was slow growth. Jaydon still loves being a big brother and continues to share well with Lucy and be really cute with her. She loves to watch him and will pretty much always smile when she sees him.
It is amazing having a healthy and happy baby right now. Well worth the constant cravings for all the baked goods that I cannot have!
