Happy Halloween

We did not get Jaydon a true costume this year, he just wore his shirt but we still have our cat's costumes. Here are a few pictures of us wearing our Halloween finest.

Two Months!

It is crazy that our little boy is already two months old. We went in for our well-child exam and he tops the scales at 14lbs 5oz (96%), he was 23.6in long (75%) and his head circumference was at the 68% range. We are truly enjoying being parents and Jaydon is truly a blessing in our lives.

Jaydon taking a bottle, sometimes this goes well, sometimes it does not.

Cuddling with dad and Higgins. He has yet to clue in to the cats though they have certainly clued in to him. Higgins doesn't like it when he really cries and they will both come up and sniff him or be next to him (even stepping on him on occasion).

Jaydon has started taking a morning nap in his swing so that mom can actually get breakfast and a shower on some mornings. This photo has Lily playing with a string on the end of his blanket that was going back and forth, quite exciting for her and he just slept.

During the day he still prefers to nap on mom.

Unfortunately with a two month appointment comes shots. He reacted to one of them in his leg and it was red, swollen and painful, he also developed a low grade fever to go with it. Here he is not feeling very well. This unfortunately has continued and we went to the Dr. three times in three days. Once for the well child check where he was pronounced extremely healthy - that night he had a little blood in his stool so we went in the next day and were told he appeared to be constipated. We tried a suppository (no success) and he seemed to be getting a bit better but then by the next evening he had a fever again and diarrhea. Quite the past few days. Hopefully he will be better soon as it is really tough seeing your little one not feel well and not be able to do much of anything to help.

Halloween photo shoot

Well we went to try and get the semi-professional photos done at the mall and they did not turn out well at all, after seeing what they did we decided we could try that at home. So many attempts later we finally had a couple pictures that we liked.

Reading already :-)

He is still gaining weight like a champ - evidence the double chin

Smiling

Jaydon has started smiling and it is so cute. Here are some attempts to capture the smiles on camera, none of them do it justice. He does like to have his tongue out (or showing) in most of his smiles.

Cats

Our cats are getting more and more comfortable around Jaydon. They come up and smell his feet quite a bit and while Lily will try and cuddle with me next to Jaydon, Higgins will sometimes just walk right up onto Jaydon to get some cuddling. We are working on that.

Higgins got himself under the blankets like this

I am not as fast as I used to be getting to things and Lily took advantage of me opening the warm dryer but then having to go deal with Jaydon. Needless to say I am a pushover and allowed her to stay in the warm laundry as long as she wanted.

Jeremy and Higgins both sound asleep!

D and C

The joys of this pregnancy/post-partum time continue for me. We are blessed with a healthy baby boy but my stuff has been weird. First the blasted granulomas, then the spike in blood pressure - induction - c-section delivery and now we get to follow that up with a D and C surgery yesterday to remove part of the placenta that was still stuck in my uterus. Of course that is so rare with a c-section but due to the bandl's ring not all of it was removed initially. What fun! I also am getting to enjoy some lovely post-partum skin irritations that are all over my body. Sorry for sharing what is probably more than some people wanted to know. Thank goodness for a healthy baby boy.

First babysitting...

When I had to have my D and C surgery we needed a babysitter for Jaydon. He still isn't very good at taking a bottle so this was going to be an adventure. My mom (grandma) stayed with him and was exhausted but had a good time.

Grandma figured out that with how much he likes bouncing, yet how tired it can make the adult, she could just set him on the ball and bounce him by holding his foot.

Graham wasn't there for the whole day but did arrive soon before we got home and we got this cute snuggling picture.

Visit from the Akana's

We had a great visit from the Akana's. They came and brought up their new arrival Peter who is 5 days younger than Jaydon. We enjoyed our visit with Dave, Amy, Cashel and Peter.

Life with Jaydon

It is amazing how fast Jaydon is growing. We are trying to be good about staying in the moment and enjoying where he is size wise and developmentally since we just keep hearing how fast they grow up and change. Here are some snippets from our life the past couple weeks.

He is getting so big, he used to fit quite well on the ottoman.

Getting ready for his bath in the tub rather than a sponge bath. Must protect his modesty online though we do have the always necessary completely naked picture here at home for when he is in high school and dating...

The four of us sleeping, not looking our best early in the morning but still worth posting with the two cats and Jaydon being so cute.

Our fist solo walk with just Jaydon and mom

Getting ready for Halloween

I love the first part of October because I get to begin my stretch of decorating that takes me through Valentine's Day. Jeremy makes me wait until Oct 1st before I can put up any decorations and this year I had to be just a bit more patient with our trip away and taking care of Jaydon made it a tad more difficult to get done. While I have no pictures of the decorated house each year I find our cats costumes again and while Lily has a pumpkin hat that didn't get put on in these pictures you can see that Higgins is a dog. Lily was very curious about the new animal in the first picture and the second is a great one of Higgins before he more actively started complaining about being forced to wear something so ridiculous.

Weekend in Bellingham

Oct 2 was BHS homecoming and I figured it would be a good time to introduce Jaydon to my school friends. We drove up to BHS in time for some of the staff lunch, stayed for the homecoming assembly, went to dinner at a friends house and then attended part of the football game.

Sat was the first golf tourney to raise money to support our boys and girls teams and so we also had our first overnight away. We stayed at Grandmama Lainie's and Grandpapa John's. Jaydon did very well being gone and out for two full days but we were all very happy to get home Saturday night. Unfortunately we didn't get many pictures on this trip but here are a couple of Jaydon in his football outfit with the Grandpapa and Grandmama.

Swinging

Jaydon has not been a big fan of his swing but we finally learned the trick.

Have Lily climb in on her own and try it out first

Then Jaydon will realize it is not so bad and he will be more content. (Though to be honest we have still only had a few successful swinging times - he likes bouncing in our arms on an exercise ball more).
