Lahti Family Reunion Day 4

Day 4 of our reunion found us doing a ton of fun things.  Grandma and Gram took Jeremy, Jaydon, Lucy and me into Canada to visit the town of Osoyoos.  It was a fun town to see and the beach lake area was amazing.

We stopped at the visitor center and got a photo with the Native American statue.

After a lunch out we stopped by a gelatto store near the bike shop Gram had to go to.  It was soooooo good!

By the time we arrived back and had some quiet time at our house we headed over to the big house to play and more family had arrived.  Cousin Clara and her family were there along with my sister and her husband.

Ok, I am going to post these.  We had so much we were doing that the karaoke machine didn't get nearly enough use but Jen, Cheyenne and I did a pretty awesome "so call me maybe" number!

The kids enjoyed dancing and the rest of the family enjoyed watching!

After dinner we had a family history event led by Aunt Linda which was very well done and we all learned a lot about some of our heritage.

The kids got some popsi-ci-cles.  (this is the way my kids pronounce this word and I love it, in fact I think I will be a bit bummed when they grow out of that, along with hamb-bu-burger).

Then it was time for the family cribbage tournament to begin.  We had four games going at one time and quite the bracket set up. 

Cheyenne was a little rusty and she and Jeremy played an epically long game while trying to remember all the rules and making sure they counted correctly.

Out on the deck Jen and Uncle Greg matched up.  It was a fun event that lasted for a few evenings and was fitting as it was one of grandma's favorite games to play with us.

Lahti Family Reunion Days 1-3

We had an amazing family reunion at Lake Osoyoos! We had a couple rental houses just a short 3 minute walk away from each other.  One in the state park with the nice beach access and one on the river with a fabulous dock to swim off of.  There was plenty of space and as a friend of Gram's put it, it seemed like summer camp for adults - it was great!

Jake (my aunt and uncles dog) and Troy (grandpa and Nanas dog) enjoyed hanging out.

Before the afternoon lake time on Day 2 my dad, uncle, aunt and I all went and played 9 holes at the local golf course, it was hot but a lot of fun to get out on the links again.  The kids enjoyed some bike time around the campground and went to the beach, I had no pics of the AM adventures.

Ahhhh...is there anything as great as just swimming around in a wonderfully warm lake hanging out?

Lucy felt extremely comfortable swimming around in her life jacket and playing with a noodle.  She could get herself most places she wanted to go.

Jaydon enjoyed fishing off the dock, he never caught anything but his cousin Clara did catch a really little fish one night.

Day 3 we went to the beach in the morning and built sand castles and played in the water.  Jaydon enjoyed the little boogie board.

Lucy wanted to go in the boat.

How relaxing for Grandma and Gram.  (I will say I have a pretty wonderful family that my mom and her partner would be welcome and totally considered part of the family with my dad's side).

Lucy met a little friend and they built a wonderful sand castle.  The little boy's dad did a lot of the work and my kids really enjoyed it.

And although there was a burn ban and we had to be careful because of all the fire activity around the state we were able to do our S'mores on the grill.

Small Group get together

We had a great time hanging out with all our friends from our old small group.  It is hard to believe that it was 10 years ago this coming fall that Jeremy and I joined the group, before any of the kiddos had arrived and now we have 8 kids running around soon to be 9.  

What a blessing to have such amazing friends in our lives!

Oh Higgins!

Lucy has loved dressing up since the arrival of her treasure box and so I wasn't all that surprised when one morning completely on her own she said Higgins needed to dress up.  Being someone who fondly remembers dressing up my cat Tuxedo as a kid and pushing him around in a baby buggy I was fully in favor or Higgins getting the same treatment.  He handled it like a champ and Lucy and I had a lot of fun.

We went through some of her old clothes and came up with this outfit in the 12 month size, it worked out well.

Higgins on the other hand was a bit emasculated and preferred just lying in one spot, though he really didn't show that much displeasure for the event.

In fact without the bottoms on he didn't mind all that much!

Dress-up Days

We got to enjoy a couple quick visits from the Chambers family on their way to and from the coast.  Lucy had just received a box of amazing dress-up clothes from her dear friend Sarah and she was in them pretty much non-stop so of course she and Brenna had a wonderful time dressing up.

Jaydon did dress up in one or two of the outfits on occasion but he likes dressing as a sports player more and just continuing to play baseball in our basement!
