State Golf Championships!

Well congrats to the BHS Red Raiders. I just spent a wonderful four days with our golf team at the state tournament. We took third last year as a team (after having won the previous six years) and so the team was really looking to bring that title back home. We qualified five girls to the first day of the tourney and while three moved on to the second day, we had one girl miss the cut by one stroke (for those golfers out there...one stroke, think of all the shots you wish you could get back in a round for just one lousy stroke). Another of our golfers struggled day one and amazing enough if it wasn't for one terrible hole would have been able to qualify for day 2.

The second day of state brought a bit more tension as day 2 is where the team title is determined. Our number one golfer had an excellent round being focused and poised from the get go to shoot even par and win the state title for the second year in a row, not an easy accomplishment. Our number 2 girl continued to struggle a bit and managed to shoot an 82 even with 7 three putts to end up in 7th place for the tourney and our third golfer came back from two tough holes on the front nine to shoot a 96 for 24th place.

It ended up being enough and while the head coach and I were pretty confident the team had won another title it was fun watching our girls squirm and sweat it out during the awards. Sure enough when they heard they were not the second place team they put two and two together and figured out they were in fact the state champions.

What a great week for the team!

The joys of pregnancy...#1

Some people mention how pregnancy is just amazing and they love every moment of it. I am beginning to think these people are crazy, or just forgot what it was really like. Between the trouble sleeping (getting comfortable), the leg cramps, the bloody gums - welcome pregnancy granuloma, and having most everyone look at me with questioning eyes asking again "when are you due," and implying that I am going to pop anyday has left me ready for this child to be born.

The good news, I enjoy feeling little Aloysius kick and move around, I am also thankful that for the most part the baby weight has gone straight to the belly versus just smooshing around every other part of my body. The bad news, I still am a week away from officially entering the third trimester! Yes, I know I get to be pregnnat through the entire hot summer (as many, many people have reminded me of). I am looking at investing a kiddie pool for the patio and signing up to be at the pool as much as possible - that is if I can get even a pregnancy swim suit to fit. I would imagine there may be a few more posts in the coming months with more about my joys of pregnancy.

Senior Prom

Well, not every married couple gets to experience the joy that is senior prom :-). I have been a class advisor at BHS for three years and have gotten to help coordinate and chaperone prom for three years in a row. Jeremy has been a great sport about it and gives up an evening every spring to help. The photographers finally encouraged us last year to take advantage of the free chaperone pictures so here is the latest photo! We thought it fitting that the theme was "The Best is Yet to Come" with a protruding belly, we certainly do feel that the best is awaiting us.
