10 Months!

Jaydon is very mobile - I have been calling him Constant Motion Baby almost since he was born and it is still holding true. He gets around everywhere in our apartment and it will be nice to move back to our house and really be able to baby proof stuff (not to mention easily block off the cat food and litter boxes with a gate). He enjoys rolling balls with you, drumming with wooden spoons and swinging his golf club around. It is a fun time.

I guess he is taking after his grandma (my mom) by always having his tongue hanging out. My grandma (Jaydon's Great-Grandma), who passed away in '08, would have continually been trying to get him to pull his tongue back in his mouth as she did with my mom.

Still loving playing with the cats and he is getting better at it so he can actually get them to go after the feather and he doesn't just poke them with the stick (see video below).

He has been playing with an old Peter Rabbit bowl and plate that were mine when I was a young kid, I loved them.

He is pretty proud of himself for a couple reasons; 1 - he gets the cat pedestal turned over all the time (he is pretty good about not pulling it down on himself), 2- he can walk behind it and around it and it rolls sometimes making life even more fun, 3 - Lily was playing inside so life couldn't get any better.

He continues to also be a very intent baby. He has big eyes and stares at people and things a lot. I imagine that here he wants the camera cord that is hanging down.

I am glad that the bottle people make a sippy cup attachment because goodness knows he never used the actual bottle. He is having some water with Auntie after playing at the park, he is pretty good at drinking water and will often get a drink by himself.

I will say that the videos don't really do justice to how excting the event really seemed to be, but here is one where Lily is playing with him.

Daddy is home!

Two weeks was a really long time to be gone but at least we were all so super busy that it didn't feel even longer. We are sad Jeremy missed his first Father's Day but Jaydon sent him a nice room service cheesecake to his room.

Another playdate with Sophie

For once our kiddos really synced their schedule and they got to have a fun play date. They live in a new cool house that was tons of fun, we will miss them when we move :-(

Sophie knows how much Jaydon loves cats so she made sure to have out the two cat sticks for him upon arrival.

Playing with both sticks - be careful not to get too close. The cats did enjoy when he got them near the baby gate and played safely on the other side.

They played together pretty well a couple times! No sharing fights yet.

Visit with Granny and Grandpa

We got to enjoy a wonderful visit from Grandpa Paul and Granny Angie, the only bummer was Jeremy was still in trainig in PA so he missed almost their entire stay.

In the petting zoo with the goats, he was really happy the whole time except for one small moment when looking at the goats and sheep sitting on a rail. The animals were making a lot of noise so Jaydon made noise too (the crying kind); however, once the animals got their food Jaydon was content.

It was one of our first and only warm days. The bears were tired and hot so they didn't provide too much entertainment but there was a great river otter in the next area and Jaydon enjoyed watching him swim.

The next day we went around Greenlake and out to lunch.

After riding in his stroller most of the way around he convinced Grandpa to carry him for the remainder of the trip. Notice the car keys in his hand, he loves carrying keys.

More proof: Higgins can be sweet. However, he is still in charge, he may jump on your lap to cuddle but he will still growl at you and not want to be pet.

(Side note, Water for Elephants = good book)

He enjoyed playing the piano (on Granny's I-pad) and dancing along.

We also made it to Jaydon's first Mariner's game but Granny and Grandpa have all the photos for that. Traffic was insane and we were late getting there but it went into extra innings so we got to enjoy plenty of time at the park. If I get some photos I will post them. Jaydon spent a lot of time walking around with Grandpa and getting free baseball cards that the stadium staff handed out.

Happy Father's Day!

It was sad that daddy had to miss his first Father's Day but Jaydon and I went to celebrate with Great-Grandpa. We took our first ferry ride and ate pizza toppings - life was good.

I am really bummed that he wasn't very happy in this picture (a bit of over stimulation and lots going on). He is sitting with our family member Ed (100 years old), Grandma is trying to make him feel better by hugging Ed - it didn't really work.

In need of sun...will travel.

With Jeremy being out of town for two weeks I was a bit desperate to not just be home alone for the entire time, not to mention I was going a bit crazy with our gray undecided weather. So...I bought a plane ticket, packed up Jaydon and headed to CA to visit Grandpa and Nana. I was a little nervous about making the flight all by myself with a 9 month old but it went pretty well. It was great to get away for even just a couple days and get some sunshine. I was a terrible photographer and only got a handful of not very exciting pictures.

We had just set up his Pack n Play and Jaydon really enjoyed standing and playing with the 'baby' in the mirror.

Grandpa and Nana were having built-ins installed in their office so everything was in the dining room, Jaydon enjoyed the address label stickers until he got them stuck all over his hands and couldn't get them off.

Troy (the poodle) was a bit weary of Jaydon though they both did a great job.

Jaydon really enjoyed swimming in the neighbors pool and the new golf club that Grandpa got for him. The flight back started out a bit harrowing with Jaydon being very tired and the two women next to me being very anti-baby. Jaydon settled down and did an AMAZING job and even the Cruella type woman on the end of our row came around and commented on how great he was. Now, we can hope that our flight to Kodiak goes as well later in the summer.

With traveling to Yakima and CA and it starting to maybe get nice here I thought Jaydon needed a sun hat - it is a bit big and he sure isn't a huge fan. We will keep trying.

Jaydon enjoys dancing, which is the same motion as jumping - he just doesn't leave the ground.

cats, cats, cats

Jaydon LOVES Higgins and Lily very much, the extent to which they love him is still in question. Higgins (for being an amazing cat with us but a cranky terror with others) puts up with a lot from Jaydon. He will sit there and let Jaydon 'pet' him (we are working on the concept of gentle - it hasn't really sunk in) and while he will growl quite a bit of the time he doesn't really move away. Lily on the other hand enjoys watching Jaydon or playing with something of his with or without him but as soon as he moves in for the touch, she is outta there.

Jaydon loves the cat feather. This one broke so it has become one of his toys that he will grab hold of and wave in the direction of the cats. He isn't able to really get the feather part to move too much for them, but he sure does whack them with the stick occasionally trying to play.

Jaydon got a huge kick out of Lily being in the laundry basket and playing with the belt.

Other than the creepy vampire eyes I love this picture. Jaydon is playing with Higgins inside the box. By the way, anyone know if the baby on the diaper box is a girl or a boy - my family is having a debate.

Jaydon got this musical puzzle from Grandma. When you put the puzzle piece in the right spot it plays "Old MacDonald." Jaydon enjoys it (though he doesn't quite have the dexterity to make it work but he is good at getting the pieces out), Lily on the other hand loves it. She will pick up the pieces in her mouth and drop them so they will play music. It is hilarious to watch.


I am not great at shutting Jaydon's door when he is sleeping, I tend to pull it closed just short of clicking so that I can peek in quieter. Higgins, however, has found me out and pushes the door open - sometimes it is a problem, sometimes it is no big deal. He has decided to start sleeping on the changing table as the crib mattress is now all the way down and he can't sleep under the crib.

"I can stand up"

It sure didn't take Jaydon long after crawling to pull himself up and begin crusing all over the place. He has now circumnavigated the coffee table a few times and can make it from a table to a chair and back while still standing. This new found height has given him a whole extra level of trouble he can reach. He has even tried getting to standing with his hands only on the floor - he soon realizes he can't quite manage to do anymore than a fabulous downward dog impression and moves to a piece of furniture, person or toy toy to actually get upright.

He likes getting the hand weights out of the entertainment center and removing DVDs is one of his favorite activities - if only he knew how to put them all away too.
I walked into his room and found him like this one day - working towards pulling everything down with him. It is pretty fun to watch what he can do.

Lunch with Great-Grandpa

Auntie Jenny, Jeremy, Jaydon and I went down to take my grandpa out to lunch. He really enjoys spending time with his first Great-Grandson and eating spicy food so it was a great combo.

Laundry Basket Fun!

While doing some chores one day Jaydon decided to play in the laundry basket (or rather I put him in the laundry basket) and he enjoyed zooming around the house and playing with his toys.

He had been teething and drooling A LOT which explains the bib at this point. He now has 6 teeth through and a couple more getting ready.

Family Updates!

I realized recently when emailing with a friend that while I do post updates and info about what Jaydon is up to, I seem to have neglected to mention a few key things about the rest of the family. Jeremy got a new job with Shire (still in pharma sales) and he has just completed a two week homestudy course (which still managed to take him to Kansas for three days) and will be leaving for Philadelphia on Monday for two weeks. The job is located in Bellingham so we will be moving back into our old house. I have an opportunity to teach one class only (algebra 2) and am really excited to get to continue to be a mostly stay at home mom but have one class to get me out interacting with adults (well high schoolers...). We will be moving back up in mid-July and while we are truly looking forward to all that life has to offer us in B'ham we will definitely miss the friends and family who are close to us down here! It is a little scary for me to think that I won't have my mom, Nancy and sister so close by, but the opportunities in B'ham are just too good to pass up.

Have I mentioned Jaydon loves bath time!?! He has recently started putting his head half way under and trying to lick/drink the water. He also loves splashing.

Terrible photo quality here but this was right after a head dunking, some water comeing out but I'll be honest that is also a lot of drool.
