Lucy is six months old!

Lucy is doing well, she weighs 16lbs 2.5oz and is 26.5 inches long.  Her height is 80th percentile and her weight is 55th.  She handled all her shots really well and though she still has some spit up issues she is loving her solids and not spitting up nearly as much as she did before.  She does still react to some things I eat but nothing like early on.  She is really verbal and talks with us a lot and she just loves playing with her brother and watching him do everything.  Now that she is crawling she is also able to get everywhere he goes much to his chagrin.  She is a happy girl who really is just growing and developing so fast, if you blink you miss something.  She definitely is a mouther and chews on everything.
We rapidly had to move her mattress from the top most position to the bottom most position within only a month.  Such a precious sleeping baby.
Hi, just working my abs!

Lucy also loves to smile for the camera!
Jaydon got this toy bat from Louisville when some friends traveled there and he ate it when he was about 8 months old and now Lucy has discovered it and she eats it too.  She also likes to whack things with it - watch out!
One day she was crawling around and going all over and managed to crawl under her exersaucer, I wasn't sure how she would feel about being under it but she seemed to think it was quite fun and even managed to get back out!

She has also found the metal chair legs are fun.  She comes over while we are on the computer and plays at the chair for awhile.  She continues to suck her thumb which is very cute at this point (though I am sure I will not be so pleased about it if it continues for more than a year or so).  She is really getting to be fun and having a great time learning, exploring and playing!

Lucy loves her cats!

Lucy is in love with Higgins and Lily, neither of which reciprocate her affection though while Lily just stays out of reach Higgins will put up with her loving for awhile.
And she's off to get them.
If dad or mom are around Higgins will stay for quite awhile for us to all lavish some much needed attention on him.

She is so proud of herself
And she eats quite a bit of cat!
Full body snuggles

Another day some more kitty loving.

Swinging!

We have a great park near our library and I decided it was time to try out Lucy in the baby swings.  I remember trying it with Jaydon around six months and wondered if Lucy would like it.  Boy did she!  She sat really well and I didn't have to hold her or support her at all from the very beginning.  Jaydon does really well on the big kid swings but he decided to hang out near Lucy and they both were swinging contentedly for a long time, it was a great way to enjoy some late summer nice weather.

To work with Daddy

Jaydon had been asking to go to work with daddy and a couple of daddy's offices wanted to see Jaydon so we set up a day and they both went off in the morning to work.  It was pretty cute.  Jaydon discovered that it was a little boring to go to work with daddy and that daddy doesn't really stop to eat so he was ready to be home by the end but certainly was happy to spend a little extra time with his dad.
How did my little guy grow up so fast.  I know it will only keep getting faster but this is crazy!
Love this smile.
My two guys!

Jaydon cooking and Lucy eating

Jaydon enjoyed helping me cook some kale chips.  Kale was on a good sale at the store and I had been hearing about making them into chips so we gave it a try.  Jaydon loved squirting the olive oil and sprinkling the salt and pepper.  He did a great job and only almost fell off the stool once.

I will say if you haven't tried kale chips they are pretty easy and are mighty tasty.  Jaydon loves them and eats them a lot, they are pretty crumbly so it makes a bit of a mess but very worth it.
Lucy continues to love her solids!  She eats a ton, I am wondering if she knows what it means to be full.  However, boy is she messy, she likes to suck her thumb while eating and it just contributes to the mess.  This has made bath time a necessity every evening after her dinner and sometimes in the morning after breakfast too.  I can't wait for meal time to get a little bit cleaner.

Lucy Crawling

At a little less than five and a half months Lucy started crawling!  It was awesome and traumatizing all at the same time.  She was moving around the house at will by scooching and rolling but boy did she really take off when she got the crawling motion, nothing was safe :)

Just a few random shots and a pretty terrible video of her accomplishment.

Tired boy!

We had a beautiful Aug and Sept.  Not too hot (only one real heat spell) but always sunny and warm and very little rain.  We played hard and one evening when Jeremy was out of town and I let Jaydon watch a bit of a show while I got Lucy ready for bed I came back out to find him sound asleep in the chair by 6:40pm.  I got him into bed and enjoyed a bit of peace before he woke up at eight thinking he had just napped.

Lucy plays piano

Lucy had a fun time playing with Jaydon's piano from great-gramaleen.  She was also just learning to sit by herself and was at the fun leaning way forward sitting phase.

Happy girl!

Jaydon starts Preschool

We are planning to wait until Jaydon is six to enroll him in kindergarten, his birthday is right around the cut off date and there is a lot of research about the benefits of being older versus younger etc.  So this year we weren't sure if we should do a preschool or not, we decided to enroll him in one and were pretty happy to find one at a gymnastics facility that included 45 minutes of a day of PE type exercise class.  It also had a small music focus and we thought that would be great.
The night before his first day reading a book about Spot and his first day of school. He was a bit nervous.
Walking into the class
The gym facility
The welcome board with all the kids names
Finding his name and putting it in the basket to show he was present.
His artwork and activities from his first month.

Jaydon had a bit of a hard time with the separation from mom and he was a bit scared of the gym teacher (a big guy with long hair and a full beard).  As time passed in the first month drop off got harder and harder and he continued to not want to go. After giving it a good try for the month of September we decided it was a combination of him not being quite ready and maybe not being quite the right fit.  The nice thing is with us going a year early there really was no pressure to continue so we were able to pull him out without any worries.  We do activities around the community and we will see if in the start of the year we want to look at something for him to do a couple hours a week away from mom and home by himself or if we will just wait until next September and start at a new preschool.

Lucy and Jaydon

So I have to confess, I wrote down picture numbers and post headings a long time ago and now am having a bit of a problem remembering what I had meant to say or why I split things the way I did so here is a somewhat random post of pics of the kids.  Lucy is 5 and a half months old and Jaydon just turned three in these photos.
These are some of the last photos for Lucy on blankets!  It was a bummer because we had some great blankets and I was really looking forward to the stage where she sat in one place and played with toys, instead she decided to crawl before she even sat and thus the blankets became a bit obsolete as she would inevitably just spit up on the carpet somewhere instead of the washable blanket :)

Enjoying her swing!
Jaydon and daddy built this cool car out of his new straws and connectors.
