Testing out the highchair

We took advantage of the Babies R Us trade in deal and purchased Jaydon's highchair. Here are a couple pictures of trying it out before he actually tried food. He enjoys playing with his spoon and at this point everything goes in his mouth so I can't brag that it is intelligence for knowing to put the spoon in his mouth. :-)

We have already removed the red insert to help cushion smaller babies.

Visit with Grandpa and Nana

My dad and stepmom came into town for a visit and got to spend some time with Jaydon. I was a terrible picture taker and realized after they left I had hardly any documentation of the visit. As has been mentioned before, Jaydon isn't the most easy going child so he did not spend a lot of time cuddling with grandpa or nana but they each got a few good moments.

Jaydon did seem to take to my dad, he smiled for him a lot and appeared to be more content being held by grandpa than anyone else other than Jeremy or me. Jaydon already seems to have a thing for his grandpas.

Nana helped us go high chair shopping. This isn't the one we got but that will come in another post.

Jaydon helped Grandpa figure out what cars to throw to the crib. He really just wanted to eat the cards but it was cute to see him 'playing.' This will be a game he will learn and play with his Grandpa the same way I learned it and played with my Grandma.

Ed turns 100!

Some of you may have caught a news segment on Ed turning 100. He got to go down to Legoland in CA and celebrate over the weekend and then we had a lovely dinner at the Space Needle on his actual birthday. His trip to Legoland was very cool this year and they honored Ed by placing a mini lego statue of him permanetly on display in the farm scene as Ed grew up on a farm. They also made him a copy of the statue and a birthday cupcake with 100 across the top.

Ed has been a member of our family longer than I have. My Aunt Mary and her family became Ed's caretakers about 33 years ago. A high fever as a baby caused some brain damage and Ed has cognitive abilities of about a 5-7 year old. We have spent our lives playing Legos with Ed and really learning about love and compassion. I am so happy to have been able to celebrate his 100th birthday with him. He wants Jaydon to be old enough to play Legos and I am dearly hoping Ed is alive long enough to have that happen.
Toasting at the restaurant.

He truly had a grand time, but no matter how fancy the restaurant he has to wear his Legoland sweatshirt!
Waving hello to the camera

I had never been to the Space Needle before. A tradition is for people to put something on the window ledge and then it passes around to every table (because the restaurant rotates - I didn't even know that). People can add something if they wish, here Ed is adding a drawing to a card.
He got the steaming ice cream sundae for dessert. What a treat.

Blowing out his candles! Quite the celebration, Happy Birthday Ed!

The Olympics!

Last fall we were visiting our friends Vitaly and Olga when Vitaly mentioned wanting to go to an Olympic hockey game and watch Belarus (his home country) play. Jeremy agreed that would be great and sort of forgot about it until Vitaly called to say he got tickets. He and Jeremy went to attend the Belarus vs. Finland game and had a wonderful time. I am a little jealous that I didn't get to take part but Jeremy did bring back a couple great gifts. As I am the one posting I really don't know what many of his pictures were of so I only highlighted a few - he may decide to change some of this post at a later time and add info.

Duh...The Olympic Torch (right before they removed the chainlink fence and Jeremy was standing on a garbage can or something to get an unobstructed view). I think he was even filmed by a Canadian news station for that.

How cool is this, you can practice your bobsledding.

Vitaly holding his flag (they ordered them online before the games and were quite pleased).
There seats were about 8 rows behind the Belarussian bench. I know they made it on tv in Belarus a number of times because Vitaly's friends called to say they saw him on tv.
Finland flag on the monitor - Lahti (my maiden name) is the second largest city in Finland so Jeremy of course had to cheer for Finland. They didn't disappoint Finland won 5-1.

Belarus flag

Cool building with a large tv on the side. This may have been where the game was.

Happy Valentine's Day

We had a lovely Valentine's Day down in Tacoma visiting with Grandpa and Nana from CA and Great Grandma and Great Grandpa. Jaydon was not very happy when we first arrived but he did have a great time at the Club where we ate lunch.

With Great Grandpa CJ and Great Grandma Jimmie

Jaydon was in full form on this one.

Jaydon is enjoying trying to drink what we are drinking and so he got to pretend to drink from this empty mug. Introducing food posts will come the first of March...

Sleeping Post # 137...

Well it sure seems I talk about Jaydon and his sleep issues quite a bit on this blog. Here is how we have been discovering him recently. Sometimes this involves major screaming when he pushes his head into the side and appears to get stuck but sometimes he is just content to hang out and chatter for awhile on his tummy.

I guess I should mention that we have appeared to turn a small corner. While he does still wake up after being down at night for about 3-4 hours he will quickly get himself back to sleep and we will ignore him. Then I do feed him sometime between 11:30-2am when he wakes up again. So this means he has been spending 7-8 hours sleeping alone though not quite straight through. After the feeding in the middle of the night it is a crapshoot for how long he will last and he has been waking up to start the day between 5:30-6:30 every morning. His naps have also seen some improvement - he tends to have one or two at least that now get to an hour. Then depending on the day he may have another one or two that are still pretty short. It is progress!

Superbowl Party!

Jason and Melody hosted a superbowl party - but it was really all about getting the babies together. As we found out who gets to really watch the superbowl with a small child??

The Lemperes' Card Party - Chinese New Year Theme

We are lucky to have great friends, and great friends who have great parents. Kon and Penni throw this fabulous card party each year - some of you may have heard of the infamous one last year where Jeremy got a bit ill. This year the theme was Chinese New Year!

When Jeremy was telling me his costume idea I was a bit surprised and even mentioned that I didn't think he would ever win a prize for the best costume - low and behold he did end up winning this year. That will only encourage him people...

J and me at the party (thanks Krissi, or rather James, for the shirt)

Melody and Jason (great creativity in the costumes here a fortune and a ping pong player).

Jayson and Sherry

Round 1 - the tables are always decked out with little goodies and party favors that coincide with the theme.

Penni our lovely hostess

Jeremy and Kon (our other host), a couple gentleman had the same hat.

Another hand, another chance to crush them... I get a little competitive but try not to let it show. Jeremy and I did get to be at a table together once but we can't be partners.

Big J and Little Jay

I know it has been awhile for those of you who look frequently and have told me to get posting. Sorry, here are a few updates.
Jeremy will take Jaydon into our bedroom and shine the laser pointer (a toy for our cats) on the walls, ceiling and around in the light fixture - Jaydon enjoys watching the show. Higgins gets moderately jealous.
