Kittens!

We would like to introduce the newest Smoldon Family members...Caly and Hobbes! (If you know Jeremy you may remember his fondness for a certain comic strip). They are siblings who were strays and have an estimated birthday of 1/1/19. Caly is a female tabico (tabby/calico mix) and Hobbes is a male orange tabby. They have been wonderful entertainment and love to run around, chase things, wrestle, cuddle and stalk Lily trying to get her to play with them. Lily is surviving the change but still wishes to be left alone (though she has allowed an odd lick or two from Caly). She has claimed my legs on the bed and is quite vocal about her displeasure when a kitten comes and invades her space. Here are some pics the past couple months with our new littles.
They decided nap time one day should be on the bath mat.
The kids love them and love to get pics taken with them

Some snuggling
Lily suffered through Caly being behind her but when Hobbes came in front she fairly quickly had enough and got down

More kid snuggles, sometimes appreciated, every once in awhile not so much.

This was early on and about how close Lily (far right) would allow a kitten to get on the bed, now if she just has a foot or so she is ok.

Caly made it a little hard for Kate to see her show.

Synchronized grooming. These last few are from their first couple days home with us.

End of the School Year Celebrations!

Our kids loved their school year down here! They had a wonderful and easy transition to CA and their school friends and teachers made a huge difference in their enjoyment of the move. We had a lot of fun activities to end the school year!
Last day of school swimming party at our clubhouse!

We sure our proud parents! Jaydon and Lucy were given  the Hawks award for the last trimester (Soaring like Hawks: Hardworking, Accountable, Wise, Kind and Safe)

Both kids also earned the problem solving character award (and Jaydon had earned friendship earlier in the year).

Lucy's class go to go on a field trip to Funderland (a local kid amusement park) and I got to chaperone, she had a great time. These are solo pics because I was in charge of only 2 kiddos during the field trip and the boy wanted to do the rides by himself, luckily very soon after we started we met a new friend who rode all the rides with Lucy.

The school put on a thank you event for the volunteers through the year. It was amazing, each grade came in and did a little performance.

Decorating the tables were kid art and I just happened to sit by Jaydon's so I snagged it.

Kate with her buddies who will be going to the same school next year.
Sorry it's blurry but Kate and her teacher saying good-bye
What does Kate want to be when she grows up: a horse champion like her sister!
These kiddos did a great job singing their songs and celebrating their year

Singing and getting ready to help Jacob hold the alphabet sign

The third graders did a big patriotic performance. Jaydon was one of the two Statue of Liberty's and Marco (one of his best friends who lives next door) was JFK
All the kids getting ready to perform

It was amazing, 12 different songs they all memorized and then short speeches in between. It was a very cool event.

The kids got to bring home a lot of projects at the end of the year. Showing off their writing and art skills. 3rd grade Jaydon did the work in the first 3 images and 1st grade Lucy was the bottom 4 images..
