He ended up needing to be born by C-section, but both mom and baby are doing well!

Update from the hospital

We arrived and were started on pitocin at about 5:15pm. After 10 hours and not enough progress to do anything we decided to stop it for four hours and try and get some rest. With my blood pressure being high they also had me on Magnesium (great combo of drugs pitocin to bring on labor and magnesium has also been used to stop labor). I also had to have a antihypertensive drug because my blood pressure. Then to actually get some rest after the 10 hours of pitocin I had a pain med. So we now have a couple good hours of sleep under our belt and started the pitocin again at 7:45 this morning, so far only mild contractions and no real progress but by golly we hope to bring this baby boy into the world sometime today!

Heading to the hospital

Well at my check-up appointment I for the first time in the whole pregnancy had high blood pressure and then some protein in my urine so while everything was looking good (80% effaced, 2cm dilation, -1 station) we are being sent to the hospital. First for some monitoring and a med to just soften the cervix to see if we go into labor and then if needed we will be induced. My midwife said by the time she sees me tomorrow morning when she takes over on call we will either already have our little guy in our hands or she will help deliver him in the am. We will try and post more later but our computer doesn't get wifi so I don't know when we will be able to get anything on here.

The joys of pregnancy...#4

Waiting... I have been ready for quite awhile, let's get this show on the road. However, now we have reached the time when Jeremy has a couple big work things on Wed and Thurs so it almost seems as though we should wait until that is completed for his sake. For mine, now could not be soon enough.

Also, the fact that my mouth really doesn't like pregnancy hormones and here I am the day before my due date driving 70 miles to my dentist to have her remove my pregnancy granulomas yet again. I thought it could wait and that it wasn't so bad until the one on the top row of my teeth inside seemed to rupture whenever I ate, brushed, flossed or even just thought about food. So now I am back home with a very tender mouth after having both cauterized and removed once again. I also learned that the next time I am pregnant I get the joy of needing a cleaning every month to try and keep these suckers away. Nothing like all those dentist bills piling up, but hey, if it means I avoid the actual granulomas I am all for it.

The baby room is now ready!

Between moving, getting sick, not being able to find a dresser I liked, not having the crib bolts and a few other challenges along the way we finally have a completed nursery. I figure I have another day or two of stuff to do to stay busy and then I will be going stir crazy waiting for this little guy to arrive.

We were so lucky and a good friend gave us this crib because she had just finished using it with her boys, it was the same exact style and color that I had been planning to get anyway!

Grandma Susan (my mom) got a sailboat mobile early on so the travel theme of the room was born, I am really liking the colors and style. Books and toys, very important!

The saga of the dresser... I searched and searched and could not find anything I liked. I enjoyed the idea of a changing table/dresser combo but I didn't like the cupboard that most of them had, I wanted drawers. Also I was a little hesitant because when the child grows older I don't know that I want the changing table look. So finally I found this dresser (6 drawers on metal glides that are so smooth and open wide) with what they call a Top Hat. The top drawer attaches in the back and when we are done using it as a changing table it comes off and attaches to four legs and a shelf to make a matching nightstand. What a winner I thought so I ordered it in honey oak. I knew honey oak may not match the crib and room perfectly but oh well, much to my surprise, it arrived in espresso. A day and a half after being told it wouldn't be a big deal they would send a new one we found out they didn't have the color we wanted in stock. Our options - return it and start looking all over or keep it at half off. Pregnancy hormones got the best of me for about 7 hours and then I decided to heck with it, we are keeping it. There isn't one room in our house that has matching furniture so why start now. Besides I do really like the style and I think it will be easy to match later with bed and desk.

How cute is this ... Since we had the nursery done we decided it was time to read the baby boy his first story in his room. Jeremy was in the rocking chair and I was on the ottoman and Jeremy started reading Brown Bear. Quite soon Higgins came in, jumped onto Jeremy's lap and insisted that story time be for him. It was a great way to celebrate our completed nursery.

Dinner at the Tutrow's

On Friday night we got together with our old small group friends for dinner and games. It was such a fun evening I can't believe it took so long for us to do this (as in about 3 years???)

Dinner - it was great. Salad, corn, steak and chicken, bread and a blueberry dessert!

Moving, Heat, Family, Computer, Illness...

I did have good intentions of putting a couple more pictures from Jeremy's birthday party but my lacking tech skills would not allow me to get the pics from my email to the blog - it seemed so simple to right click and save them elsewhere but who knows.

Next I was going to do a post about moving. I even took one picture of the chaos since I think posts are more interesting for other viewers with pictures. Let's just say my sister and her boyfriend Laurent were lifesavers in the move and in a few hours took care of all the big stuff that I couldn't help with. It was about three days of loading up rolling suitcases to move from one floor to the next. Jeremy did a ton of the work but one nice thing about moving in the same location is that putting stuff away was a bit faster.

The move occurred the weekend before we hit the insane temperatures, so while it was definitely hot and sweaty we got through it. By Tuesday afternoon in the heat I took myself and the cats to my mothers (thank goodness for AC). We stayed that afternoon and then came home - why I am not sure. The next afternoon we packed up again (saying our apartment couldn't get below 84 even at night) and stayed at my mom's for a couple days. This was great for our body temperatures and my poor elphantitis (sp??) feet but not so great for unpacking and getting everything put away before we had family from out of town arrive on Saturday night.

It was great to see Jeremy's mom and stepdad, even if it was a short one day layover for them between CA and AK. It was the first chance they had to see me pregnant. We welcomed them late Saturday evening and then were going to hang out Sunday before taking them to the airport early Monday morning when they would fly home and Jeremy would fly to a work conference for 3 days.

We had a slight change of plans Sunday morning when Jeremy woke up with a terrible flu. He had a high fever, body aches etc... and all that goes along with a flu. So we spent some time figuring out his insurance and if there was anything special I needed to do being 36+ weeks pregnant. Needless to say Jeremy did not make it on his business trip and he is still home in bed with many of the same symptoms.

It is weird to say that I seem to have gotten lucky because while I have a good cold going on (coughing, sore throat, phlegm etc) I do not have the fever or body aches. I hope we are back to health soon and that we can finish getting the babies room ready before he decides to arrive - saying that right now it is in complete disarray.

To top it off in the midst of the illness and whatnot the computer decided to get sick as well and I am trying to house-sit at a couple different places for friends/family. The computer had something happen (malworm or something that wasn't really a virus but seemed to act like one - Jeremy would know more) that we couldn't take care of but found a great IT guy through my moms work who really saved us. If you need a computer guy let me know.

Okay, enough rambling, did I mention that I have a cold so that covers me for mistakes and not making much sense :-)
