A long standing family tradition is to run in the annual Fowl Fun Run (we always called it the Turkey Trot). When I was a kid I won the spring chicken award (for being the youngest to complete the race on my own) the same year my grandma won the 'spring' chicken award (for being the oldest to complete the race). In years past we have had large family gatherings and so this was a small year to just have four of us but still a lot of fun. The race is 2 miles and Jaydon did a great job doing it on his own for a little over a mile. He then got too tired, and boy was it cold and windy, and so Dad carried him the rest of the way. Of course he was still able to run across the finish line on his own. I do acknowledge to being a competitive person so it was a bit hard to be dead last in the two mile race at just over 50 minutes but it was well worth it to be a part of Jaydon's accomplishment.

And he is running!

Still running (and this was a little ways into the race)!

One of the best parts of the turkey trot has always been eating pumpkin pie afterward! It was great and Jaydon and I thuroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Drinking some hot cider, another tradition.

Wearing the turkey hat, part of the 10k race is to see if people can beat the turkey with a five minute head start. Sad to report that we did not even beat the turkey doing the 2 mile versus the 10k but Jaydon really enjoyed seeing the turkey out there running.
