Oct Awards Assembly

Our kids blow us away! Lucy has gone four trimesters at her new school and won an award all 4 times (which shouldn't happen but since she switched classes last year both of her teachers gave her the HAWKS award). She earned the HAWKS (Hardworking, Accountable, Wise, Kind, Safe) again this time. Jaydon also has been mighty strong in the award category and now that he is in 4th grade he is awarded for grades so they no longer have HAWKS awards but they have Honor Roll (3.3-3.99) and Principal's List (4.9). He earned the Honor Roll award and we are very proud of them. They are really thriving at school!

Choir Concert

I just mentioned in a previous post how in many CA schools music programs have been cut due to budget issues (which sucks for our students). But, the somewhat silver lining, is our school really tries hard to get music into the classrooms. Each class/grade level has at least one performance (some two) a year where they have to memorize and sing some songs. They also have this great choir opportunity for just a couple months where the kids stay after school and learn the program and then perform it for the families and community. Both Jaydon and Lucy participated and it was wonderful.

Open House

The kids school does their open house in the spring. A cool way to really display so much work that they did throughout the year and spotlight how they have improved. It was amazing to walk through their classrooms and see practically every surface decorated with wonderful student work. It was so darn cool! I am blown away and so thankful for the time and effort the teachers and staff put in to make this such great night showcasing our kiddos!

Awards

Our kids have loved their school this year! They are so happy to be down here in CA and have done a wonderful job. I think at every awards assembly they have had one of them has earned something. I snapped this quick pic when I was surprised to see Jaydon on the Friendship board. He and Lucy have also won the Problem Solver award, the HAWKS (Hardworking, Accountable, Wise, Kind, Safe) and Lucy got Writers who soar. It is pretty awesome.We are some proud parents!

Jaydon and Lucy got to go on a bike ride with Grandma and Gram and some of the rainbow riders. I don't remember when the ride actually took place but it was a cute couple pics so I wanted to get them on here.

Christmas Legos

Jaydon and Lucy enjoyed building some new Legos they got for Christmas.

School awards

Proud parent time. Our school does little awards assemblies by grade each month or two. Both Lucy and Jaydon got awards this week. Lucy for a positive attitude and Jaydon for perfect attendance. We are thankful both Jeremy and I could make it and share in their success.

The Color Party

Our Church had a fun color party for the K-3rd grade set. Lucy and Jaydon were excited to see the Reptile Man again.

Fly Fishing Expo

I took Jaydon and Lucy to the fly fishing expo to meet up with Grandma while Kate stayed home with Dad and napped.  The kids had an ok time. Lucy enjoyed tying her fly, Jaydon wasn't as impressed.

I went into Jaydon's class and did the art docent lesson. We had fun as a class learning about Romero Britto and his style of art and then recreating a piece like his.

Peter and the Wolf

 Grandma and Gram took Jaydon and Lucy for a fun outing to lunch, the beach and then they saw a musical performance of Peter and the Wolf that had an opportunity for kids to play with a bunch of instruments afterwards.  Jaydon and Lucy both enjoyed the entire event and especially liked playing the instruments.
