Piano Recital

Jaydon started piano last fall and has been enjoying it (for the most part, practicing is not his favorite part). He had his first recital and did a fabulous job. Very stoic and professional. Tech made it a little cool because Jeremy was able to drop-in on his mom (a music teacher herself) and she could watch him do his performance live. He was quite nervous but did a great job.

Choir Concert

I just mentioned in a previous post how in many CA schools music programs have been cut due to budget issues (which sucks for our students). But, the somewhat silver lining, is our school really tries hard to get music into the classrooms. Each class/grade level has at least one performance (some two) a year where they have to memorize and sing some songs. They also have this great choir opportunity for just a couple months where the kids stay after school and learn the program and then perform it for the families and community. Both Jaydon and Lucy participated and it was wonderful.

Jaydon's school concert

Jaydon had an all school concert and it was really quite good. The first graders performed whistle while you work and put on a happy face. They had fun and he did a great job. Unfortunately the only videos I got were super long so they won't fit on the blog.  His music teacher does a great job of getting each class to perform 2 songs that are fun and well done. It was great and I look forward to many more.

Peter and the Wolf

 Grandma and Gram took Jaydon and Lucy for a fun outing to lunch, the beach and then they saw a musical performance of Peter and the Wolf that had an opportunity for kids to play with a bunch of instruments afterwards.  Jaydon and Lucy both enjoyed the entire event and especially liked playing the instruments.

Lucy's Open House

Lucy took us to her school for her Open House.  She showed us around her classroom pointed out all her artwork and then they performed some songs for all of the families. It was a great night.

 The kids had a fun evening putting on a show for the adults.  They made quite the impressive band!

 Lucy spearheaded this lovely event.  We played music, wore crazy outfits and had a good time dancing around.

Lucy one day out of the blue came up and said, listen to my concert.  She had two utensils and proceeded to play them like a violin under her chin and sing/hum along.  It was awesome, this video was the second attempt because we were all enamored with her first one we didn't stop to make a video so it isn't as good as the original performance but you get the idea :-)

Sarah's concert

Blogging all the things we did today makes me realize we had quite a full day of fun!  At night we went to Sarah's first band concert, it was a lot of fun to watch and we were so thankful we could be there to show our support. She plays the clarinet and is two people to the left from the boy in the red shirt.  The kids were quite entertained listening to the music, I continue to hope they will take after their Dad and Granny and be musical throughout school!

Preschool performance

We had a wonderful experience with Jaydon's preschool this year and it was such fun to watch him grow and develop throughout the year.  Here are some pics, I have a couple videos but they haven't shown for me so I will try putting a couple on here but they may or may not work.  It was a great end of the year concert!
