Odds and Ends of October

October was a busy month. We had 3 sets of family visit, celebrated Kate's birthday took many fun outings exploring the area and of course had Halloween to celebrate. This post is the odds and ends of Oct.
Jaydon really got into cooking, he was excited to make these cookies with help from Granny! Kate really just came along for the photos and to do a little decorating.

Kate helped make dinner one night with Granny
This cat bed Jeremy bought Lily for the drive down to our new house has been a hit with her!
Jaydon continues to wow his teachers and does a great job at school
Jaydon had a huge bike accident and fortunately was wearing his helmet. His was definitely sore but luckily only had a couple bad scrapes on his face and nothing more serious.

Kate (and Lucy though Lucy's class was when the gym was super full so I didn't get any pics) did a gymnastics class through our local parks and rec. They both enjoyed it but are both ready to be enrolled through the actual gym facility not the parks and rec for next time.

Kate enjoys reading stories
I took this pic and sent it to my family as proof it did rain! This was almost 2 months after we had moved in and it was the first precipitation we had, the kids were also out at the playground within an hour of it ending!
Jaydon created this ship at Cal Fit (the gym we go to) and wanted a pic

We came home with balloons from Kate's party and Lily was in heaven!

Grandpa and Nana came into town and we ate out on the river boat and toured the capital, it was fun.

I got invited to bunko night and enjoyed meeting a lot of women who have kids at school with my kiddos.

One bummer is we missed the Leighton's Halloween Pumpkin Party for the first year since it restarted. Luckily Jen and her family attended so I got some pics from afar.

Jaydon's camping trip

Jaydon had been wanting to sleep in a tent and I was not too into it in my huge condition.  Jeremy was going to have a little camp out in our yard but Grandma wanted to have one last hurrah before her school year started so she and Jaydon took off for an overnight camping and fishing trip.  It was quite fun for them both except Jaydon managed to take after his mom and be a true "Calamity Jane" he fell a few times and had one really big wipe out on his bike.  In fact two weeks later we are still waiting for his elbow to heal.  But he was a trooper and still enjoyed his trip!
Snacking in the screen tent!

They found some other stacked rocks so Jaydon made his own little one

Checking out his sleeping bed

Playing around at the campsite

Enjoying his bike ride (til the major wipe out)

Ouch

Jaydon had a bit of an ankle bending fall and needed a bit of rest and ice.  He did enjoy being able to use the bag of corn like our friend Alex had used to ice his arm injury when he stayed at our house the week before.  Fortunately nothing more than a twist and he was just fine the next day.

More random shots to update

Since I am behind on updating I am combing some individual posts into one.
Lucy asked me to take this photo of her!
Lucy got a pretty good owie from the corner of the fireplace mantel right above her eye.  She was a bit freaked but enjoyed when everyone in the family wore matching band-aids.
Jaydon got a fun rocket for Christmas and some weekend in January we finally got out to play with it. The goggles were the kids idea, pretty cute.
We struggled to get our rocket to launch (baking soda and vinegar) but eventually after a couple mis-attempts it fired, it was fun to watch.

Pretty cool huh?   Of course I couldn't get a photo of the actual rocket in the air.
Jeremy and I went to a fundraising auction for the Epilepsy foundation through Jeremy's work, we had a good time with his co-workers and enjoying ourselves in the spectacle of the wealthy auction.
Jaydon and Lucy had some couch snuggle time!

Higgins

Ahh Higgins, how we love it when you get outside and fight with neighbor cats!  Dad had to tape up his owie pretty tightly and it was a bit hilarious to watch him slip around on the hard floors. Luckily it was just a bleeder of a cut and once it stopped bleeding he was saved from the injustice of the blue tape bandage.

Owie

We were visiting our neighbors when Jaydon dove through the living room and his head/teeth collided into Lucy's head.  Not a great photo but there was a little tooth indent on her head and both kids got quite a shock that did not feel good.  However, I am very lucky to have two tough kids and when they get owies they really don't complain or fuss for long.  Both managed to get over the surprise and pain quite soon.
