Disaster strikes

We had our first body part smash through a wall and while we expect to be up all night with a new born, we weren't anticipating it being our five year old and a nasty ear infection limiting our sleep the second night home from the hospital!
Jaydon was racing Lucy downstairs to pick a show, he tripped and I believe his shoulder/elbow went through the wall, he was fine, the wall, not so much1
Jaydon had some forced quiet time after being up all night in a lot of pain from an ear infection.  Dad took him to the clinic first thing in the morning and after some anti-biotics and ear drops he was feeling better.  Thankfully Higgins kept snuggling with him so he was forced to stay on the couch.
We truly are lucky that neither experience was really that bad of a disaster but certainly not things we were anticipating having a four day old.

Our new house

I am a bit of a work-a-holic when I have something I want to get done.  So unpacking the house and getting settled was a priority for me.  I managed to do it in four days and it is so great to just have it done and organized and livable.  We have a few purchases that need to be made but those will have to wait til we can accumulate a little more savings.
Jaydon and Lucy have enjoyed the house!
I found Lucy one day reading to her baby doll on her chair, it was pretty cute.
Now for the random photos of our house taken really quickly before going to see some friends and wanting to have pics to show
The kitchen and dining room

The upstairs living room, we will be getting a piano soon!
Jaydon's messy room
Lucy's room
Our room
Ahh... the disaster that is the playroom.  Can't wait to have some organization stuff going in there.  The other side of this room has another fireplace with our two couches and tv.  It is a great open rec room area but I didn't get a good photo.
Guest bedroom
Office
Ah bliss, an organized garage.  Now if only we could get a working remote for the garage door opener so I can pull into the garage to park.

We are happy to have more space!  And are really enjoying our new neighborhood/

House disaster

You may have been wondering why it has taken me so long to update my blog, or maybe I am lucky and it has just been a couple months since you checked but life has been CRAZY!  We went on vacation and our house flooded (the fridge hose came undone and leaked everywhere).  The good thing is we had just bought a new house and were going to be moving towards the end of August but due to the flood and our house being torn up we decided to up our move and try to just get out of the old house as soon as possible.
So upon return from vacation we (I mean I) got to start loading our lives up into boxes and have a torn up kitchen too.  The very worst part was the three full days of having the dryers and dehumidifer going non-stop in our house.  We weren't supposed to open the doors or windows with the dehumidifier and I am not kidding, it really did reach 100 degrees in our house!  It was insane.  The only survivable thing was that we could open windows in the bedrooms as long as we kept the doors shut.
So those of you who know me and my need for order will understand this did not make a challenging time any easier.  Living on the subfloor was not my favorite but we survived and the house is now being repaired so we can rent it out!

Ferry ride

During our whirlwind traveling to CA and basketball games and everything else, Jeremy also had to get his school work done so I sent him home Sat night and the rest of us stayed with Grandma to give him a good chance to get work done.  Grandma took Jaydon to a bike expo, see the awesome video of him riding a bike on the obstacle course, and I took Lucy on the ferry to visit Auntie Jenny's new house.
The ferry was fun and very windy up front.

Jen and L have a fabulous home right on the water.  It is beautiful and has many really cool custom features.  Lucy's favorite part was visiting with Joanie (the cat) and trying as hard as possible to give her lots of lovin'.

Re-arranging!

Well at least we now have our furniture moved and ready for the baby girl to make her appearance. Though I still don't want her to arrive any earlier than March 14th, we at least have some space for her (though don't look in the closet that is supposed to be hers - we will get to that next week).

I didn't think to do before and afters so if you haven't ever seen our house before, sorry - may not be so fun, if you have you can see how some of the rooms have had to change.

The guest room/baby room. We had to remove a couple book cases and move the bed way against the wall to get the crib to fit but it works out okay. Not ideal but we can't do away with our guest room so this allows us to still have people stay and when we don't have people staying the little one can be in there.

The master bedroom. We now have a bassinet and the changing table in our room so we had to move Jeremy's nightstand to the closet and our tall dresser to the corner. Surprisingly it is working for me. I may not be really thrilled with the changing table being there but for now it is the best solution.

The dining room hutch got shifted corners and one of the book cases from the guest room is now in the dining room, doesn't match all that well but it is out of the way and we really didn't have to do away with any of the furniture or space we had in our house even bringing in Jaydon's huge bed! The only problem is the poor large houseplant/tree thing that was in a corner of the dining room is not readily finding a new home. We shall see what happens there.

Sunrise and Packing up Christmas

One morning right after the New Year Jeremy was up and had to go to his car for something, this was his view behind our house. The picture of course doesn't do it justice but it was an amazing sight to see. Such a vibrant sunrise.

One of my least favorite things to do in the entire year is put away all the Christmas decorations. My house has been so festive for months with different holidays and then it is a bit of a let down (I do decorate for Valentine's Day but I wait a little while and it is not nearly to the same extent). I was not the only one who was bummed this year, Lily did not want to see her tree skirt bed disappear and Jaydon still talks about "Santa come" every day. I love how excited he was about the holidays this year and hope he will continue to have that love for the season for many years to come.

Oh and a side note of success, Jeremy and I got our prelit tree un-prelit as all the lights were no longer working so now we just have a regular tree that we will string lights on. It wasn't as bad as I had feared but did take an hour and a half to get all the lights off.

Hello Deer

I was in the kitchen and looked out the window and this is what I saw. I was a bit in shock because while we have seen deer droppings in our yard in places I haven't actually seen a deer just saunter right through our two houses towards the cul de sac. Unfortunately Jaydon was napping so he didn't get to enjoy seeing the big animal but Higgins got up to watch and poofed up quite nicely.
