Family Hike

Jeremy was offered a new job that is a great opportunity for him and will keep him from having to travel over night to AK.  It is pretty exciting and seemed especially designed because only a couple weeks after he accepted the offer he found out his former company was going to go through a big lay-off phase.  While we were figuring out his new schedule he was able to use a few remaining vacation days.  One day we took advantage of that and went on a little family hike down to the river.  Jaydon had a great time throwing sticks in the water and we all enjoyed the crisp air and outside time.
Running down the trail
Collecting sticks
Throwing a stick and watching it travel down the river
Lucy really enjoyed her stick too!  I just had to be careful because she would swing it around and clobber me if I wasn't paying attention.

Lucy milestones

I am again way behind on updates but hope our computer will be working well again soon so we can avoid the blue screen of death and I can actually get some photos on the computer.  That being said remember to look back to see if I have done any other updates in the coming week.

This post is a milestone post so I can remember the day, Lucy is just under six and a half months and has had a couple big things happen in one day... She had her first tooth pop through the surface this morning (bottom left).  For the most part she seems to be handling teething ok she just doesn't sleep very well right now, she isn't really fussy, she just wants to be awake, I am not such a big fan of this new behavior but I hope it will pass soon.  Also she pulled herself up to a standing position on a box today and took a few steps while holding onto the box.  I am continually in awe of her rate of development and many times wish she would just slow down.  I never did get the fun sit up by herself and play with toys phase, she was crawling before she was even sitting all the time.  So exciting for Lucy and terrifying for her family.  It appears we may have an early walker on our hands.  Again please check back for more updates hopefully soon!

Standing and walking

Lucy got her first tooth and pulled herself to standing on the same day (I posted an update about this but with no photos).  I still don't have any great photos of her tooth but here she is doing her first standing work and taking some steps while holding onto the box.
Just got up!
Hmmm, what to do now?
So proud
Stepping in
Life is good!

Pumpkins!

A fabulous old park near our house has a garden and they had free pumpkins for kids one gorgeous Saturday morning.  So we headed out for Jaydon to pick his pumpkin and help Lucy pick hers.  Then we were able to do a little corn maze and play on the playground and we met up with some of our other friends. It was a great morning!
Lucy is excited!
We had been to the farm earlier in the week to play and see the pumpkins and Jaydon was pretty determined to get a white pumpkin.  He liked them the best!
Success!  The one he wanted!
Lucy thinks the pumpkins are pretty cool too :)
Jaydon picked out this tiny baby pumpkin for Lucy, it was cute and she loved being able to try eating it - just the right size.
Trying for a photo op!
I wish Jaydon was looking at the camera!
The corn maze was great, it was one small loop and the kids could run around in it without the parents.
We love fall and all the fun family things there are to do around our area, not that there aren't a ton of fun family things year round but pumpkin patches are pretty awesome!

Owie

We were visiting our neighbors when Jaydon dove through the living room and his head/teeth collided into Lucy's head.  Not a great photo but there was a little tooth indent on her head and both kids got quite a shock that did not feel good.  However, I am very lucky to have two tough kids and when they get owies they really don't complain or fuss for long.  Both managed to get over the surprise and pain quite soon.

Lucy playing

Lucy discovered the ball popper (thanks again Sam) and has been in heaven.  She enjoys eating the balls probably more than she even enjoys seeing them pop up but this toy provides a lot of entertainment for her.

And with most things, it will end in the mouth eventually :)

Sleep

One night while Jeremy was out of town again I had heard Jaydon fidgeting around in his room a bit after he was supposed to be in bed but he was staying pretty quiet so I let him be.  When I went to check on him later I could almost not open the door with the books stuck under the door but I did manage to get a couple photos of my tired guy and then squeeze into the room to get him back into bed.
