Happy Birthday Emmett

We had a fabulous time celebrating Emmett's (our neighbor) 3rd birthday. They had the party at a local gym for little kids and both Jaydon and Lucy had a fabulous time.

The gang of kids, I crack up looking at this because while Jaydon was healthy he had a cold the week before and had a lingering cough at times.  Of course during the whole group photo he had a coughing fit which is also why Lucy isn't pictured because he couldn't hold on to her while coughing so hard.  Haha

Lucy is 10 months

Lucy is so active and fun to be around.  She is a smiley little girl who loves to play and is so excited about interacting with others and moving around.  She has started waving well and when people are leaving she waves at them, she also will start waving much more vigorously and start talking/yelling at you if you don't acknowledge her waving good-bye, once you acknowledge her she is so happy to be communicating.

She takes quite a few steps in a row and stands and balances on her own so much more, it isn't uncommon for her to take 5-7 steps multiple times a day but I wouldn't say she is a full on walker right at 10 months.  She says mama with meaning and intent and loves her family.  I tried leaving her in the church childcare and she would play with a toy for awhile and then realize we weren't around and scream until we came back, nothing would console her but me.  I then stayed with her and tried to get her to play and she had a great time, when I thought she would be fine I left again and within a couple minutes when she looked around and realized I was gone she made a bee line for the door and was having nothing to do with being left alone.  That is similar to Jaydon so we will definitely keep working on it.

She loves to play with her swing (by climbing in on her knees and fearlessly rocking around) and she has entered the emptying drawers and shelves stage.  She is so curious and interactive it is a lot of fun.  She is now only off of dairy and soy and is growing so big.  She LOVES her food.

Siblings

I love that my kids love each other!  Jaydon and Lucy are great friends and have so much fun playing together.  Jaydon of course wants to be very physical all the time so it can get to be a bit much for Lucy at times but mostly she just crashes and tackles and gets right in there with him.  We do have some minor spats already at times and I am sure we will have many more throughout their lives but it sure is fun to watch them laugh and play!

These weird stick things are supposed to be used like tent poles over an attached blanket to hang toys from but my kids just like to have sword fights with them.  There is a video of it below and yes Jaydon can get a bit rough but Lucy also is really into it and doesn't mind getting knocked around a bit.

For Valentine's Day we headed to the dollar store and picked up these balloons for a buck each!  Great buy, the kids have had a great time playing with them.  (And yes I realize this gives me away for not updating my blog on time because I am posting photos from 2/14 with a post from 1/23, oh well, I'm trying to cram lots of photos in a few posts to speed up the catching up process).

Here is the video of the sword fighting, the reference to time out at the end is our sports usage for taking a bit of a break versus the discipline usage.
And I am blessed to have such helpers!  They both enjoy helping unload the dishwasher :)  I just have to be fast because Lucy will climb into it but as long as there is silverware to be unloaded she is a real help.

Angry Birds

Jaydon has gotten into Angry Birds!  He gets to play it on some electronic every once in awhile but he also loves playing it in the living room.  Here dad made some great settings for him to crash into, the balls are all the piggies so he hasn't successfully completed the level until all the balls are on the floor.

Alphabet hunt

Asia and Sophie have done a cool alphabet scavenger hunt so we decided to try it!  Jaydon had a lot of fun but didn't last all that long on either attempt so here are a few photos he took with his ideas of what begins with each letter.
A is for apple
B is for books and balls!

This was the second time trying it a week or so later.  A is still for Apple.
B is for Bears
C is for Cup
D is for Door
E is for Elephant
F is for Feet, a bit hard to get a good photo of his own feet when he was trying to hold them in the air but it works.  This is a pretty fun activity, hopefully we will get a chance to continue it and finish at some point.

Baby Caedan Arrives

Caedan Joseph arrived on 1/15/13 (which is three years and three days after his sister, I like when numbers work out well).  He and his whole family are doing well, big sister Brenna is in love!
A little sleep deprived but doing well, proud dad - Greg, holding Caedan.  Jaydon trying to get a good look.
Jeremy getting to meet Caedan, look at all Caedan's hair.  He definitely has a full head of hair on him!
