Hello Deer

I was in the kitchen and looked out the window and this is what I saw. I was a bit in shock because while we have seen deer droppings in our yard in places I haven't actually seen a deer just saunter right through our two houses towards the cul de sac. Unfortunately Jaydon was napping so he didn't get to enjoy seeing the big animal but Higgins got up to watch and poofed up quite nicely.

Hudson's Christmas Party

Jaydon has a friend from his parent and me preschool class who had a lovely Christmas party. We decided to take Brenna along for some fun festivities.

Posing by the Christmas tree.

Smiling Practice

After Dad got home from AK and our trip to Leavenworth he saw the newest Santa photos and decided it was time to really try teaching Jaydon to smile. Here are a couple of the shots he got one night while I was away at basketball.

Quite a cutie when he smiles!

Leavenworth Weekend!

Our annual family trip to Leavenworth with my mom's family is so much fun. We sure are able to cram a lot of fun activiites into one very full Saturday. If you want to look back to previous Leavenworth Christmases look through our Dec 2009 and Dec 2010 files and you can find the other links.

Jaydon and Ed enjoy playing with Legos together, this year they both also enjoyed the singing Snowman that our neighbors, the Nanas, sent with us for the trip.

Uncle Bill up to his old tricks, trying to teach Keeloch a new trick.

The cheese was strong incentive but neither Keeloch nor Bailey were all that fond of the laundry basket.

Inside SNOWBALL FIGHT! See video at bottom.

Joe with the football!

Jaydon on the snow, it was pretty hard and crusty but he still enjoyed being on it.

Ooops a slip!

Looking at the ducks with Dad.

Shoulder ride! Dad had been gone in AK the previous week so Jaydon always loves to spend a lot of quality time with him when he comes back.

Jenny and L, finally Jen was the non-photogenic one :-)

Better!

Lunch time! Jim, Sam, Joe and Jaydon.

Grabbing food for the feast! We have such glorious lunches we don't need to eat much for dinner which is nice because it leaves more room for cookies and Aunt Mary's Almond Roca.

Decorating Cookies!

This year the winner was Jeremy, for his Santa hat dinosaur in the middle! Awesome!

Out for the lighting of the streets in Leavenworth.

First the tree, then all the buildings! Jaydon loved seeing all the "Santa Lights"

Family photo

Jaydon did a great job meeting Santa here and was having a good conversation with him, asking for an apple of course.

Next adventure were the car races! Jaydon really enjoyed playing with the cars.

Tea Time

Jaydon and I took Gram for her birthday (a year and a half over due) to the local Tea Room. Gram is a tea lover and this was a really fun outing for us to do as a little group. Jaydon and Gram enjoyed the Tea room and the experience. I asked what they had to drink for little kids and the only real option was juice so I asked if they would heat up the apple juice so Jaydon could have some "hot tea," as he calls it, with us. It was so cute, he used his tea spoon and stirred and then drank with the spoon, finally taking some sips from the cup. He also really enjoyed the three tea sandwhiches I got to share - yummm!

Meeting Santa

Jaydon LOVES SANTA!! Or I should say, everything about Santa except acutally meeting him. He has been talking about Santa since the day after Thanksgiving. Christmas lights are called Santa lights, he wakes up every morning saying "Santa come?" and he is obsessed with all things Christmas right now - he must be my child. It is so fun to watch this year and here I was thinking we probably had one more year before he really got it, but no, I am pretty sure he gets it! He wants us to set the timer for when Santa will get here, he moves his Santa on his advent calendar each day, he can find Santa in all of our look and find books and he is just anxiously awaiting his arrival.

However, with all that being said, he is not so sure about seeing Santas in real life, his quote is that Santa is "a big guy" and early on he would call him a "tough guy." We have tried to get across that Santa is a big guy but also a really nice guy and it sort of works but he is still a bit hesitant.

Grandma and Gram took him to visit Santa at their local tree lighting and holiday party at the community center. Note the lovely crown on his head that he made at the craft site. However, he was not happy to get so close to Santa. One of the cutest things though is that when you ask him what he wants Santa to bring him for Christmas, he always responds with "an apple."

Sorry this picture broke, I moved the email I received it in to the trash before being sure it came through all the way and so this is all I have, but I enjoyed that when Dad showed up at the community party Jaydon did quite a bit better with Santa.

We prepped all the way to the mall for our Santa picture. We talked about sitting on his lap and smiling, "saying cheese" as Jaydon would say, he was so excited. However, when we got there Jaydon again did great until he was about 2 feet away, then he wanted nothing to do with Santa. I did get him to sit on the rocking horse and Santa sort of snuck in for a picture but unfortunately Jaydon tried climbing down before we got a good shot and Santa was trying to make sure he didn't fall while climbing down when Jaydon realized he was right behind him and all was lost. This is the best we got!

It has been such a fun holiday season already and I can't wait until it is actually Christmas and Jaydon to see Jaydon's reaction to the 'neighbor' Santa who is going to come to our celebration and provide presents (an apple to Jaydon of course).
