The Bunny Party!

We have some great friends who are AWESOME! They have a daughter, Sophie, who is 7 weeks older than Jaydon and they have a great backyard. Asia knows how to throw a party and this time she planned a bunny party with easter eggs and plenty of outdoor fun for the kids. The weather actually held out and it was a blast. Thanks Asia, Craig and Sophie.

While there was a ton to be excited about, Jaydon really enjoyed the bunny snacks! In this photo he might just have a few in his mouth and some in each hand.
Then the bunnies arrived! It was pretty cool to get to see them, many different kinds, and pet them and feed them and snuggle them...
Jaydon enjoyed seeing them for awhile but then the pull of the other toys and more bunny snacks won out.
He loves to swing, he is also showing off a couple super balls that he found in some of the Easter eggs.
Sophie petting a bunny that Ella was holding.
Craig and Asia (in the bunny hats), Craig must have been gazing at all the bunnies and doing some Fibonacci work in his head regarding bunnies reproducing.
Jaydon found the birdseed water table. It was a hit, unfortunately that cup of birdseed ended up all over Cole (the boy next to him) a couple times.
Found a ball, life is good!
Trying to feed a bunny, it wasn't hungry.
Lots of bunnies!
Jaydon giving a bunny a snuggle, this is how he gives kisses :-)
Sophie is a bit more proficient at giving kisses. She loved snuggling the bunnies.

Basketball!!

Jaydon loves basketball! I love that Jaydon loves basketball! He has had a mini hoop for a long time (thanks Grandpa Jim, Grandma Jo, Aunt Megan and Uncle Patrick) and he still enjoys playing with it. When March Madness came on TV and he actually got to watch a little tv it was love! He now wants to try watching b-ball frequently and loves playing with basketballs. He has even started saying ball and whenever he sees a basketball hoop pointing to it, saying ball and making a shooting motion.

Grandma decided we should get out a lot of the basketballs at her house and show Jaydon a video of an amazing ball handler doing a demonstration and lesson. Jaydon enjoyed it. Yes, I know he is missing his pants. We just got so excited about b-ball we put off finishing getting dressed.

Great-Grandpa's Wake

We had a lovely celebration - BBQ with family to remember grandpa and spend time together sharing our memories and stories. It of course was a Stange get together so there were definitely a few unconventional moments that we are all so accustomed to.

Jaydon found Dippy the cat and was in heaven. However Dippy much preferred Joe's loving touch to Jaydon's.

Jaydon played more Legos with Ed which made Ed's day. He even kept telling us that he would clean up the mess Jaydon made because he liked watching Jaydon make the mess.
Jaydon is never too sure of Great-Uncle Bill but once he was on the shoulders running around he gave up his apprehension and enjoyed it immensely.

There were three dogs and a cat joining the festivities. This is Bailey and she was in love with the new puppy Josie. They would run and chase and just in general cause chaos and get under your feet. It was great.
Bob made it to the party! He even brought his photo album from the San Fran to Kaui race that my grandpa, my uncle, Bob and his brother Tom did in 1980. They won their class and took 6th overall, for being the smallest boat in the field that was pretty great. Not to mention Bob had a plethora of good stories to share of sailing with my grandpa over the years.

And then the Stange family adventure came out. My mom, just back from a PE conference, had us all playing these different PE games or doing these card activities. My grandfather happened to say something about "you dang PE types" to my mom not long before he passed when she was trying to get him to get up and walk around in the hospital. So while I am sure my grandfather looked on this activity while shaking his head, my grandma, who went before him, would have been thrilled seeing the fun and wishing she could take part.
Jeremy pulled bent-legged dips and he and Jenny got 'em done. You can see the piano is decorated with photos of grandpa and family through the years. We also had a wonderful slide show playing on the TV for most of the event.
Uncle Bill never learned how to do a proper squat I guess because he kept falling backwards. L looked on in amusement.
Mom really enjoyed watching her brother fall over trying to do correct squats.
Britt got some active lunge move and embraced it fully.
Mary got into her hopscotch.
Here mom and Jaydon were going to try doing Bob's activity because he claimed he wouldn't be successful.
Mom did pretty well, Jaydon was on her other side and Mary came to help him but then so did the dog and he got some lovely doggy kisses instead of completing the move.

A good time was had by all with good food and some great memories. We passed around the photo albums, shared stories and remembered a great man.

Date night!

With Jaydon gone for his first overnight what do Jeremy and I do . . . come home and frantically do a bunch of chores around the house! We then made a point to clean up a bit and head out for a nice dinner. We enjoyed a great Thai meal (somewhat in honor of my grandpa who loved Thai food) and splurged on a lot of our favorite dishes - mmmm leftovers.

I tried setting up the camera so we could get a timer photo and of course without me knowing (though I should know every time we try taking a picture) Jeremy decided to hang by a noose.
We did manage to get a decent one.

Jaydon had a great time with Grandma and Gram (Gram had been very apprehensive about this and was surprised at how good Jaydon was) and we had a great time without him for the evening. And even more the morning. While we couldn't enjoy the relaxing morning for long it was a great change of pace after 19 months.

Barnstorm Farm Visit

Jaydon was going to have his first overnight at Grandma and Gram's and we decided to meet in the middle for the exchange. My mom went to college and ran track with Shirley and Sherry who own Barnstorm farm and they have maintained a good friendship through the years. It was great to see them again and to show Jaydon the farm.

They have Alpacas and chickens. Jaydon was probably more excited about the chickens but he loves the little Alpaca stuffed animal Shirley and Sherry gave him.

Grandma and Gram had just gotten back from a combined 10 day PE conference/vacation to San Diego. They got Jaydon this great giraffe backpack. Of course at this point he is more obsessed with the basketball that Grandma brought him from the conference. He still points to his mini-basketball hoop and then the tv asking us to let him watch more March Madness.
Pretty excited!

Here we enter a couple of photos with Jaydon getting the eggs. Shirley showed him where they were and then he reached in and grabbed it, instead of handing it to Shirley though he tried throwing it out the little door at the chickens. Thankfully Shirley still has her solid PE skills and was able to juggle the egg and catch it.

A couple firsts!

All of a sudden one day I look at Jaydon and he is walking around with his hand in his pocket. It was pretty cute and I am now noticing that he will often stick a hand in a pocket when he has pants that have them. Most of the time it is just his left hand though sometimes it will be both.

I asked him to smile for the camera and this is what I got.

In more exciting news: We got Jaydon's first official haircut. I had tried the neck trim a couple times and it went okay but I was a bit hesitant to try the whole head by myself. Now that I see photos I realize I waited waaaay too long to get it cut but, oh well. He did pretty well in the chair and it probably helps that I brought raisins and blueberries for him to eat while it was happening. He sat on my lap and no one volunteered to take any photos so the picture quality is terrible. Nor did I actually get one of his hair being cut because I couldn't figure out how to hold him, his snack and take the pic while staying out of the ladies way. It was quite a challenge to get the very back because of how we were sitting and that was about the time Jaydon decided it was no longer fun. So I gave that a bit of a trim when we got home.

All done! It is definitely choppy in places but so much better. It is also a bit funny because his hair does not grow above his ears so it sometimes looks like we shave there but we don't.

**Side note - I updated a couple older posts one 3/21 and one 3/26 so if you want to see all the new posts make sure you scroll back a couple entries.**

SICK!

Well Jaydon got the flu for the first time Sunday late at night and we were up pretty much all night helping him through it. How sad that he doesn't yet understand what is going on and why he is feeling so poorly. Unfortunately he did manage to give it to both Jeremy and myself. I came down with it just a few hours before Jeremy but he has definitely gotten the worst of it. Needless to say having two sick parents and a recovering but not fully healthy sick kid has been a bit of a challenge and no fun. All on top of Grandpa passing away and other family being out of town this has got to be one of those "character building" life events. Hopefully we will be back to our healthy selves in no time.
