Tea Time

Jaydon and I took Gram for her birthday (a year and a half over due) to the local Tea Room. Gram is a tea lover and this was a really fun outing for us to do as a little group. Jaydon and Gram enjoyed the Tea room and the experience. I asked what they had to drink for little kids and the only real option was juice so I asked if they would heat up the apple juice so Jaydon could have some "hot tea," as he calls it, with us. It was so cute, he used his tea spoon and stirred and then drank with the spoon, finally taking some sips from the cup. He also really enjoyed the three tea sandwhiches I got to share - yummm!

Meeting Santa

Jaydon LOVES SANTA!! Or I should say, everything about Santa except acutally meeting him. He has been talking about Santa since the day after Thanksgiving. Christmas lights are called Santa lights, he wakes up every morning saying "Santa come?" and he is obsessed with all things Christmas right now - he must be my child. It is so fun to watch this year and here I was thinking we probably had one more year before he really got it, but no, I am pretty sure he gets it! He wants us to set the timer for when Santa will get here, he moves his Santa on his advent calendar each day, he can find Santa in all of our look and find books and he is just anxiously awaiting his arrival.

However, with all that being said, he is not so sure about seeing Santas in real life, his quote is that Santa is "a big guy" and early on he would call him a "tough guy." We have tried to get across that Santa is a big guy but also a really nice guy and it sort of works but he is still a bit hesitant.

Grandma and Gram took him to visit Santa at their local tree lighting and holiday party at the community center. Note the lovely crown on his head that he made at the craft site. However, he was not happy to get so close to Santa. One of the cutest things though is that when you ask him what he wants Santa to bring him for Christmas, he always responds with "an apple."

Sorry this picture broke, I moved the email I received it in to the trash before being sure it came through all the way and so this is all I have, but I enjoyed that when Dad showed up at the community party Jaydon did quite a bit better with Santa.

We prepped all the way to the mall for our Santa picture. We talked about sitting on his lap and smiling, "saying cheese" as Jaydon would say, he was so excited. However, when we got there Jaydon again did great until he was about 2 feet away, then he wanted nothing to do with Santa. I did get him to sit on the rocking horse and Santa sort of snuck in for a picture but unfortunately Jaydon tried climbing down before we got a good shot and Santa was trying to make sure he didn't fall while climbing down when Jaydon realized he was right behind him and all was lost. This is the best we got!

It has been such a fun holiday season already and I can't wait until it is actually Christmas and Jaydon to see Jaydon's reaction to the 'neighbor' Santa who is going to come to our celebration and provide presents (an apple to Jaydon of course).

Happy Thanksgiving

We had a lovely Thanksgiving holiday with my family. My sister and her fiancee perpared the meal this year and so we headed down for a short visit. I didn't get that many photos and I certainly look forward to whe we have holidays with a lot more kids running around spicing up the event.

Sitting down to a butternut squash soup.

Nice Jen!

Jaydon LOVED the cranberries! He didn't really care for anything else though 'suffered' through some bread and turkey as long as there were cranberries on it too! Here he decided to just take the whole bowl for himself.

The feast!

A pear tart to go with the pumpkin-ginger cheesecake for dessert, it was lovely and delicious.

Fowl Fun Run

A long standing family tradition is to run in the annual Fowl Fun Run (we always called it the Turkey Trot). When I was a kid I won the spring chicken award (for being the youngest to complete the race on my own) the same year my grandma won the 'spring' chicken award (for being the oldest to complete the race). In years past we have had large family gatherings and so this was a small year to just have four of us but still a lot of fun. The race is 2 miles and Jaydon did a great job doing it on his own for a little over a mile. He then got too tired, and boy was it cold and windy, and so Dad carried him the rest of the way. Of course he was still able to run across the finish line on his own. I do acknowledge to being a competitive person so it was a bit hard to be dead last in the two mile race at just over 50 minutes but it was well worth it to be a part of Jaydon's accomplishment.

And he is running!

Still running (and this was a little ways into the race)!

One of the best parts of the turkey trot has always been eating pumpkin pie afterward! It was great and Jaydon and I thuroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Drinking some hot cider, another tradition.

Wearing the turkey hat, part of the 10k race is to see if people can beat the turkey with a five minute head start. Sad to report that we did not even beat the turkey doing the 2 mile versus the 10k but Jaydon really enjoyed seeing the turkey out there running.

Jaydon with Higgins

Jaydon truly loves the cats but he sure makes their lives hard at times. He has started flopping over on Higgins and squishing him with loves. Higgins endures it for awhile and then runs off but never far enough.

Jaydon decided to join Higgins under the stools. It was humorous to watch him climb under and in and then as soon as he got settled Higgins just left, poor kid.

It's a GIRL!!

Our new baby girl looks healthy and was moving around a ton during the ultrasound. No surprise, she has been kicking me like crazy for the past week or so and at this point seems even more mobile then Jaydon was (which may just be because I can feel her earlier). Everything was just fine and we hope to welcome her into the world around the 25th of March. Of course part of me is okay if she wanted to arrive after Aunties wedding on the 31st of March!

A foot

I chose to put the same three pics we had for Jaydon's ultrasound. I still don't know how to link a previous post here but if you looked at our early posts from April of 2009 you could compare these photos with Jaydon's. (and if anyone knows how to link another page here, feel free to let me know).

Oh and check back because I do still have a couple weeks of posts to catch up that will be an older date than this one so you might have to scroll a bit to find them. Hopefully by the end of the week we will be fully updated again!
